A Letter to my Past and Present

Image
It's August and this is the last month much of the North American continent will be wearing revealing fashions for comfort, but for a lot of us with body issues & complex histories with ourselves comfort is not so easy. I am dedicating the blogs this month to body image, & self love. This next poem is a deeply personal piece, it's full of snippets of my history. Writing it helps me process these feelings of sadness so I can get on with my life. I hope you'll stay and read it, leave me a comment if it resonates with you. Next week I'll hit you with a couple of music reviews and some curvy fashionistas. Thanks for visiting and even greater thanks for reading the poem in it's entirety. Much Gratitude to all my readers. A Letter to My Past & Present. I've been in a funk all day, you see it's been 18 years since I stood there and lied you thought they were tears of joy really it was all a ploy to keep me protected at night. Didn'

Body Positive Poetry

You, Eyes see you looking in the mirror go ahead and cry then wipe away your tears. It's time to recognize  those feelings are just fears Baby, those are more than laugh lines. There is more to your Lovely smile more to the wrinkles in time  Your love handles make me happy I hope you feel that way too for everything about you tells a story,  or more than a few.   More than words can share, or help to repair,  So every time you feel alone, just know Eyes, still see you.   Even if we've never met A cosmic, cellular alliance is what you get I love me, I love you, and I hope you love you too. I'm living in my skin  hoping to inspire love cause we all human beings Letting go of the pain that fills my brain when I allow judgements in Join me, lets live our lives We'll shed our societal skin & begin again. You are your own mirror & you are beautiful.  - The Pueblo Poetess I published the pics below in the summer of 2017, on my face

Freedom, the Dream

Image
For the month of July I have chosen to focus all blogs on Freedom and Privilege, today's poetry blog continues on that journey. Before you get to far though take a moment to check out your  song of the day " Glory" by John Legend and Common. #Tunes4UrTuesday https://youtu.be/HUZOKvYcx_o Glory was created for the movie "Selma" and tells the real story of our Nations History through the trials and tribulations of our ancestors that built it through oppression, slavery, pain, and love. The type of love that only those in the darkness can truly understand and share with one another. To many people in the United States of America July is seen as a month to celebrate Freedom, and the super power that is the USA. Being able to celebrate the ideology of Freedom is not awarded to all  and some do not see July as a time for celebration but the anniversary of more dates that recognized some as worthy and others as property.  This poem is a collaboration

The Goddess

Welcome to Your Sensual Saturday Poetry, with your hostess the Pueblo Poetess, Staring into racks of old dreams and new expectations colorful things with hidden stains in places only speaking of pasta. I turned the corner and came across her.  I probably should not tell you this story here I go doubting myself again  but the way I saw her to some would be called objectification. To me she was the muse I had been missing The ebony skin of eternal galaxies starlight vision A blue feathered earring. One hand on an orange summer dress, fingers hidden in a silky fabric the other a delicately sculpted set of phalanges bringing her phone past her perfectly aligned neck. A blue feathered earring fluttering.  Thick Black Hair braided into a rose on the top of her head, like a fairy she sparkled Who needs a painting of a girl with a Pearl earring Here was a flawless ear & a blue feathered earring fluttering gently. She was midnight moon & morn

Feminism Makes Sex Better

Image
Got pulled into a comment section on Facebook on a short piece of writing I did debating the importance of feminism & how many boys approach women like porn stars (which btw porn stars are regular people too) & why women reject these types of approaches. Their argument is that feminism has ruined dating & sex, because women see themselves as more powerful and therefore do not want to have sex with men. Wrong!!!!! First off feminism is about equality for everyone. Secondly we do not want to have sex with immature petulant boys that want to be men but still falsely believe the world owes them more than everyone else simply because they were born with an outie. If you want to have adult no holds - barred mind blowing orgasmic sex act like a grown up, be respectful & maybe it'll happen. You see Feminists still want sex, matter of fact we want it more than ever, but we demand to be seen as equals in the bedroom as well as the boardroom. Realistically feminism has

On Sundays I try to keep things light and geared towards sensual writing, but there is just to much going on in the world to stick to that schedule, today I need to talk about privilege. If you are interested in some Sensual Sunday poetry please go read my Poetic Pillow Talk page. There is a couple of really dynamic poems from the guest poet SoulRac and myself. #SensualSunday http://whatcurvywomenwant.blogspot.com/p/pillow-talk.html First I wanna acknowledge and talk about my privilege then we'll branch out from there. I am a woman that is almost entirely of Caucasoid descent, this means I am very white. I live in the United States of America where we have practiced genocide on non-whites since at least the late 1400s. We are a country built on systematic oppression, murder, capitalism, with a touch of Socialism thrown in, dreams, hope, broken treaties, broken promises, beautiful views, and the continuously misplaced value on the voice of a white person over the voice

Artists as Activists-Pride

Image
It has been a while since I have been able to really sit down here to write. So welcome back, and thanks for your patience as I transition again. On Fridays I usually focus on Curvy Fashion Icons and different styles that showcase the beauty of curves. As we wind down the month of June a month dedicated to celebrating the non hetero-normative better known as the LGBTQIA community "Pride" and the month where we get to joyfully celebrate Black Music History as well. I'd like to utilize this Friday to talk about an artist that has really grabbed my attention over the last few years. Angel Haze is an artist that challenges the molds of many genres not only is she a Black femcee hiphop Goddess, she's got a lot of rapper, little bit of pop, and a whole lot of truth talking story teller packed into one hard hitting honest package. She uses her drive and platform to share difficult truths about her personal history with abuse and to help eliminate many of the stere
